Membrane properties of mossy cells from epileptic, status control, and saline control rats. RMP, resting membrane potential; Rin, input resistance; τ, membrane time constant. Measurements are from an AP at threshold using injected current (see Experimental procedures). AP amplitude was measured from resting potential to peak (AP amplitude, total) or from its threshold (AP amplitude, from threshold). AP max rise refers to the maximum slope of the rising phase of an AP; AP max decay refers to the decay of the same AP; their ratio is the dv/dt ratio. AP duration was measured from its onset to the point it repolarized (AP duration, total duration), and AP half-width was also determined (for further definition see Experimental procedures). There were no significant differences (one-way ANOVA, P>0.05). |
