Overshoot measured from 0 mV to peak depolarization of the AP. Afterhyperpolarization (AHP) measured from the resting membrane potential to the maximal membrane hypepolarization. AP duration measured at one-half peak amplitude. The membrane Rin shows a significant decrease (* P<0.05, paired t-test) after PGE2 treatment. The apparent increase in the rheobase after PGE2 treatment was not significantly different (P>0.05, paired t-test) owing to variability in the data set; 6 of the 10 NTS neurons showed no change. CTR denotes control; PGE2 bath applied at 100 nM. Numbers in parentheses are number of neurons tested.⁎P<0.05.
